There are several theories about arthritis and why it happens. It could be that the immune system does not work properly. Certain vitamins seem to help arthritis and it has been suggested that these vitamins are lacking in an arthritis sufferers body. If the immune system starts to attack the body this could be one reason why arthritis occurs. The reasons for arthritis depend on the type that is diagnosed. It could include accident which typically ends in Osteoarthritis.  Osteoarthritis neck and other joint inflammations, rhematoid arthritis are very similar in that they impact the joints, however the latter is more of a long term infliction on the joints.

There could be like gout or pseudo-gout. If a person has a family history of arthritis then they may be more susceptible to it. An infection could also be the cause of it.

Sometimes the cause of arthritis is unknown and research is being carried out to determine the reasons why a person might get arthritis. Clues on why a person develops arthritis could lead to a possible cure. At the present time there is no cure for arthritis although medical science is developing to the point where one day there might be a cure discovered.

Osteoarthritis is more often seen in elderly people and is also known as degenerative joint disease. This is the condition that is thought to be caused by actual joint injury or the wear and tear of joints. It happens when the cartilage is worn out over a particular time period. When this occurs, the osteoarthritis cure may not be a simple one.

Obesity also leads to arthritis because of the extra pressure placed on the joints. It is therefore helpful to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. If obesity is the cause then it might occur earlier depending on the severity of obesity. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by autoimmune difficulties as in lupus.

Lupus is where the body’s immune system believes that the cartilage surrounding the joints is a foreign substance. It therefore attacks the cartilage causing arthritis. In very young children this is known as juvenile arthritis.

Psoriatic Arthritis is also caused by the immune system and is only found in people who have psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin complaint that can cause nasty patches of irritable skin, but it also attacks the immune system. This can only be diagnosed by having a physical exam and blood tests. Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid or fluid in the joints.

In gout, uric acid is usually excreted from the blood by the kidneys. If it is not then this can cause gout which is a type of arthritis. Arthritis is an illness that impacts the joints.
